This passes on skills to key community members which they can then pass onto local community groups and residents. Preventing Problem Parkers - Civil Parking Enforcement

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is applying to take over the enforcement of parking restrictions with the key aim of targeting traffic congestion, road safety and general nuisance caused by inconsiderate motorists.

The council already carries out parking enforcement in its off street car parks and it is intended that this will be extended to on street parking borough wide.
If approval is given by the Welsh Assembly Government the council will be able to issue fines to anyone parking irresponsibly.

The council is seeking public views on the plans and the closing date for comments is the 28th February 2011.
