Heads of the Valleys Spring Clean 2010

Local residents and volunteers have been busy taking part in the Heads of the Valleys Spring Clean to help clear an area of land in Trefechan which has suffered from flytipping. A skip full of rubbish was removed and two van loads of green waste from the site.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who took part in the event. The project was funded by Trefechan Communities First Partnership and was carried out in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy, Groundwork Merthyr and RCT, Community Wardens from Safer Merthyr Tydfil and Merthyr Valley Homes.

Global Village Workshops

Thanks to funding from the Global Village Committee (funded by Arts Council for Wales, Welsh Assembly Government, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and the National Lottery) Trefechan Communities First ran a series of workshops in the community in the run up to the Global Village. We would like to thank all residents who attended the events which included belly dancing, indian beauty and bhangra dance.

Adult Learners Week

Thanks to funding from the Adult Learning Festival Committee Trefechan has benefitted from a Wii to Fitness Session on the 19th May 2010. The event was held as part of a series of free workshop which is held during adult learning week to give local residents the opportunity to try something new.
